West Leyden By Samantha

Did you know West Leyden is in back of Westdale?  West Leyden had a classroom on fire.  West Leyden has a  huge track and a baseball park in the back.  They also have a big gym.

Some teenagers are 16 or 15 in Leyden.  They get books with 400 pages or more.   They get to take laptops home to do their homework and for Twitter.  There is a tennis court at Leyden.  You can't go on Facebook on the laptop.

Messi is very talented at soccer.   Messi has an enemy, his enemy is Ronaldo.  They play against each other a lot of times.   Did you know his uniform today is actually old?   Did you know Ronaldo played for Spain?  Ronaldo's uniform today is old too.  I think Ronaldo wears that uniform since he started playing soccer.
Ronaldo and Messi  practice a lot.  Sometimes they practice all day. I think Messi is better than any player even Ronaldo. Ronaldo and Messi played for many years.

Restaurant Review of Bienvenuti By Ms. Murray

Last Friday my friends and I went to Bienvenuti on Grand Avenue.  We went for pizza.  When we walked in, there was no one else there.  Finally, a waitress came in and told us to sit down.  The waitress took a very long time to get our drinks.  

We ordered salad and pizza, and we got the bread for free.  The bread was warm and crusty and soft in the middle.  In fact, we think it just came out of the oven.  The salad tasted fresh, and had good ingredients.  We especially liked the mozzarella balls.  They let us order any kind of pizza we wanted.  The pizza was delicious!  The sauce was sweet, and the crust was thin and crispy.  

The restaurant was small, but it was clean and decorated for Valentine's Day.  Later on, more people came, so it didn't feel so empty.

Overall, the service was not great, but the food made up for it.  It would be worth trying again.  I would recommend it for other people, as long as you are not in a hurry.

I Love Being An Aunt, Its the best thing!

Well, when i first became an aunt I was just in 2nd grade and was about 6 or 7 years old.

I kinda got nervous. I really didn't know much of how to be one
 When they told me I was really excited, I've always wanted to be one, and finally I was! 

I kinda already knew how to hold and put them to sleep.  It was a fun job!  

When the first baby came, I went to the hospital. It was a boy and His name was Jr.
 He was super Duper Cute! He was My Sister-in-Law's and brother's Son. ( They are Married )
 He was born on September 22. I felt nervous. When i first saw him he looked so red , but I asked my mom why and she said that's how all babies are born . I was surprised! 

When he grew there was another on its way. And that was going to be a girl. They named her Chloe. And she was Born on February 26. She was Super Duper cute too! I was extremely excited because i knew how it felt and how to take care of them already. Like my mom said she was red . lOl . She did cry when people held her. 

 ~ Here are some tips about being a Young aunt Like me!(:

-Help who ever had the baby (Sister , Sister-in-law , etc.)

-When they are busy and the baby is cry , tell them if you want make a bottle or Rock them to sleep. 

Overall, i Love being an aunt . Its Super fun ! I wouldn't do anything to change that !( :

Humpty Dumpty by Jonathan

Fifth grader Luis D.in Mrs.Patel's class made the best fractured fairy tale on Humpty Dumpty.For all of you fairy tale lovers here it is the fractured fairy tale on Humpty Dumpty.

Do you remembert hat clumsy egg from that other book "Humpty Dumpty".But this is now the year 

2027 and mankind has found many more ways to improve life on earth.So now humpty Dumpty is as

sturdy as a boulder.Remember that now.........

 Once upon a time in the year 2027,Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall eating his sandwich .When all of 

a sudden his friends scared him of the wall .Humpty Dumpty was furious!He said to his friends,now I have nothing to eat!!! 

But he didn't break...

The next day Humpty Dumpty started eating his sandwich on top of a building that was as tall as 3 schools on top of each other.2 window washing robots carried him up.He was pretty sure that no one 

could get up here to knock him off.He was enjoying his sandwich when all of the sudden he heard some laughter he carried on eating his sandwich thinking it was just the wind.Next thing he knew 

his friends pushed him off.Good thing he only got minor cracks.He didn't even bother screaming at them he just left.

What Humpty Dumpty never realized was that when he plummeted to the ground (The day before)

he landed on his head and instantly became the martest living thing on earth.That night he made 

a plan that will finally let him eat his sandwich for at least one day and maybe more......

 The next day he arrived earlier to eat his sandwich on the same building.He called a mattress  truck from the inside of the building to go to a house that is right next to it.The man said that it would be there at  1:45pm,just enough time to eat his sandwich.Everything was ok until he heard some giggles but at the same time the truck was almost in front of the building.His friends came out from the side of an air vent then he jumped off the building with his sandwich eaten and he landed on the mattresses safely."ha ha!"he shouted at them."I finally ate my sandwich in peace without you guys messing with me.The End

Being Bilingual is Great! Mrs. Rodriguez

Do you know another language?  If so, you are lucky!  Did you that being bilingual makes you smarter, have more job opportunities, makes it easier to travel, and helps you stay close with your family.  As an ESL teacher at Westdale, I sometimes hear students say they don't like speaking another language.  This breaks my heart because I know how lucky these students are to know another language.  I wish my parents knew another language because then I would be bilingual.  

Here are some tips on practicing the other language you know.
-Speak in that language with your parents or grandparents.
-Listen to music in that language.  (This is one of the ways that I learned some Spanish - I love bachata, salsa, and merengue!)
-Check out books in that language.
-Watch tv in that language.
-Switch the language on video games to the other language you know.  (I never knew this, but Angel just informed me.  What a great tip!  Thanks, Angel!)
